1.) "To help myself and the students develop participatory bias I begin teaching from the students situation and from their understanding of the subject matter..."(27)

Ariel states how she feels as though this quote expresses the fact that students start by learning what they already know, and then branch out into the unknown. I agree with her on this, as this is very much what the quote suggests. I also agree with this method. I feel as though this method will help them to feel knowledgeable and confident in themselves, as they already know something. this will entice them and encourage them to continue learning things that they may not be too familiar with.

2.) "They reported being bored and silenced didactic lectures in classes where teachers raced to cover the material and ignored their questions." (27)

Ariel expands upon this quote by stating that she agrees that lectures can be quite boring, and that she does not retain information well this way. I agree with her in saying that they are boring. I don't necessarily retain information all that well through lectures. However, it helps me to have a structured way of learning, and to have a structured form of notes. It's easier for me to study this way and helps me to better score on tests. However, I very seldom retain this information once the test is over.

3.) "The class hour in itself is structured so that the students reflect on meaningful questions and influence the direction of the syllabus." (27)

In her final quote, Ariel states that this is exactly what the teacher is looking for. Personally, I agree. I feel as though, through reading this chapter, that this teacher dislikes the typical structure of the everyday classroom, much like the rest of us. This author's way gives the students more autonomy than what they're used to, and helps bring a more modern feeling to the classroom.
