"To help myself and the students develop participatory bias I begin teaching from the students situation and from their understanding of the subject matter..."(27)  Ariel states how she feels as though this quote expresses the fact that students start by learning what they already know, and then branch out into the unknown. I agree with her on this, as this is very much what the quote suggests. I also agree with this method. I feel as though this method will help them to feel knowledgeable and confident in themselves, as they  already know something. this will entice them and encourage them to continue learning things that they may not be too familiar with. 2.)  "They reported being bored and silenced didactic lectures in classes where teachers raced to cover the material and ignored their questions."
