About me!

Hey everyone!

Let's dive into a little bit of information about me, shall we?

Firstly, my name is Brianna Ferreira, but I prefer to go by Bria. I'm 19 years old, born on March 21st 1999, and am in my second year here at RIC. I'm majoring in elementary ed, but I plan to have a content major in special ed.

As funny as this may sound, growing up, I didn't have a nickname. This is because my mom was adamant about me not having a nickname (still dont know why, to this day). But anyway, my friend called me Bria one day, knowing very well that I didn't like Bri, and it just kind of stuck. So, having a nickname may not seem like a big deal, but it's something I'm so not used to, though it's a nice change.

Next up, I really love the arts.  Any form of it, really. From poetry, to drawing, to music, and musical theatre. However, the last two are particularly close to my heart, I've always loved to perform. Ever since the young age of six, I have been on stage. I took voice lessons for five years to train my voice to be the best that it could be. My favorite types of songs are show tunes, pop, and classical. RIC is holding auditions for The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and that is one of my favorite musicals, so I'm so excited to have the opportunity to audition!

I love animals so much! I have 2 dogs, a papillon named Pappy and a chiweenie named Angel. (A chiweenie is half dachshund half chihuahua). I also have a rabbit named Addie and a betta fish named  stitch!
That's Addie during her Easter photoshoot!
And this is Pappy! He's always sticking his tongue out at me ;)

One interesting fact about me that I'm super proud of is that I've lost 95 pounds. At my heaviest I weighed 245 pounds, but now I'm down to 150! I just go to the gym four times a week and watch my calories. Losing weight was so much easier than I thought it'd be. It's still a daily challenge though, a lifelong challenge, but I know I'm up for it.

This is me in April of 2016, at my heaviest.
And this was me today, at the gym!

I'm gonna add a few miscellaneous facts as may closing statements. Halloween is. my absolute favorite holiday, and horror movies are my favorite! I have a wonderful boyfriend named Josh who I cherish dearly. My favorite tv show is the 100, and I love to bake anything from scratch. Maybe I'll bring in cookies someday :)

I can't wait to get to know all of you throughout the semester, and I'm so excited to see how this class progresses!

Signing off,
Bria

  3. You seem so cool! I mean first of all you have great taste in television (the 100 is so good, that last season will haunt me forever it was so dark and so amazing) and also performing is so impressive. It takes guts. I used to do school talent shows (I would also sing) and in the sixth grade I was in my schools production of snow white (I barely had any lines but still). But now I can't even raise my hand in class without freaking out lol. It's cool that you stick with it and are passionate about it. Lastly I would not be opposed to those cookies you mentioned

I have six cats... yes six cats hahaha and two dogs and three mollies which are a type of fish. I almost bought a mini rabbit a month ago but figured I should probably wait until the baby arrives.
